Mary\u00a0will take time to learn about your loved one\u2019s past and listen to the story of that person\u2019s life. She\u00a0will talk with the older individual and with family members to learn what care is needed to maintain the person in the home.<\/h4>\n

Children of elderly parents often say, \u201cI want to help my parents stay in their home as long as possible.\u201d Through in-home care services, Mary\u00a0can assist an older individual with the abilities and strengths they have and currently demonstrate (not do the task for the person).<\/h4>\n

In this way, cognitive and mental decline may be slowed. Maintaining daily functioning by allowing an older person to perform tasks that match abilities can enhance quality of life in the home.<\/h4>\n

Within the Home Mary\u00a0can provide a wide range of client services to enable an older individual to remain in the home. Changing the physical environment to accommodate the individual\u2019s needs can be a key to keeping someone in his or her home. Functioning level and needs change over time. She\u00a0will help you and your loved one assess evolving circumstances and adapt to what is needed.<\/h4>\n

How In-Home Care Services Helped Cynthia Live at Home<\/span><\/h3>\n

About one year before Mary\u00a0met Cynthia and her husband, Dick, Cynthia had a stroke which left her weakened and with partial paralysis in her legs. With physical therapy and other rehabilitation services, she was able to walk with a walker, but she could not continue to run a household as she had been doing. She was also diabetic, which required a special diet and numerous trips to her physician.<\/h4>\n

Mary\u00a0provided in-home services to Cynthia and her husband, Dick, to stay in their home. By encouraging Cynthia to plan and organize the day and week for herself and Dick, Mary\u00a0enabled the couple to participate in a meaningful way in their daily lives and the lives of their family members.<\/h4>\n
